Rapid Direct Registered Photography
The focus of direct registered photography is to allow collection of large amounts of data covering large areas while minimizing the processing time to produce a mosaic. Direct registration is particularly useful where the images taken are relatively featureless or are highly repetitive. These applications pose the most difficulty for feature base matching. In feature based matching the software searches for matching features among the images. This process is generally adversely affected by the type of features, number of images. It is not unusual to spend hours processing a hundred images.
Our image correlation methods use the GPU to speed of the process of fine alignment of images where there is insufficient overlap or features to do so with standard matching techniques.
